The NFL Is cutting Back On Celebrations

The National Football League (NFL) is cutting down on the player's celebration after a play and players don’t agree. For example, many players have gotten fined for a simple act of celebrating after a play and Richard Sherman said “The NFL Is turning into the “No Fun League”(Seifert). Also, a veteran got flagged for a Celebration; “Vernon Davis of the Redskins was flagged for shooting the ball through the uprights like a jump shot after a touchdown” (Mather). Some people would agree that the game isn’t as fun to watch as it was 10 years ago because with all the rule changes and all of the emotion. Nowadays, the NFL Ratings are down 10% and part of the reason is the excitement in the game because after a big play the celebration gets flagged and brings all the emotion down and then it gets boring “The league says it has not changed its rules but has made excessive celebration a point of emphasis,” said Dean Blandino, the NFL’s Senior Vice President for Officiating (Mather). This shows that the referees met and they said that this year they are going to pay more attention to the players celebration and make sure that it is not “TOO MUCH.” The dances are to celebrate something and “You know that I know that we all know football is an extremely hard sport to play. And I think it’s a reward as a player,” said Cam Newton” (Jones). In conclusion I don’t think that the players will keep it clean but the NFL should let the players celebrate and let it be a judgment call depending at the point in time.
